Celebrate 100 Days Out to the 2017 Ontario ParaSport Games
Brantford and the County of Brant, ON – The Ontario ParaSport Winter Games are coming to the City of Brantford and the County of Brant on February 10 to 12, 2017. The Games Organizing Committee is hosting a 100 Days Out Celebration on November 2, 2016 at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre and North Park Collegiate from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“As organizers, we’ve been exposed to what’s coming for over three years now, and it’s time to expose that excitement and anticipation to the community,” says Russell Press, Coordinator of Tourism and Community Development, County of Brant. “The Games Special Events Committee are a passionate group that have committed to pulling this event together in a way that will ensure the excitement for the Games spreads to each and every member of our communities.”
Residents and visitors of all ages are invited to join the celebration that begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre with the unveiling of the winning medal design to be featured on the front and back of the gold, silver and bronze medals. The medals will be awarded during the Ontario ParaSport Winter Games. Local artists submitted designs for consideration and the Games Organizing Committee chose the winner.
The celebration continues with hands-on opportunities to try some of the sports as local high schools have put together teams for friendly competition with the parasport equipment. Schools participating include: Assumption College, Brantford Collegiate Institute, North Park Collegiate, Pauline Johnson Collegiate, St. John’s College, W. Ross Macdonald School, and the Brant Youth VC Tornadoes. Organizers are also excited to have the Games Mascot Pachi in attendance to mark the day and have his photo taken with attendees. Rounding out the fun-filled day will be a photo booth to have commemorative photos taken.
