April’s Featured Artist is Taren de St Croix, a mixed media abstract artist from Brantford. Born in Sydney, Australia, Taren moved to Brantford with her family in 1972. She completed her degree in Fine Art at the University of Guelph and now owns and operates her own online gallery, Taren Rebecca Fine Art. She began painting abstract paintings with acrylics in 2016 and is best known for her bright colours and engaging movement through textures and shapes.

I Think You’re Grand

We had a chance to chat with Martin Smith, the mastermind behind I Think You’re Grand, an organization that was created in the late summer of 2019 aimed at connecting artists with one another and their community. New ‘Community Building’ Grant Program for Non-Profits

The Ontario government is investing $105 million through the new Community Building Fund to support non-profit tourism, culture, sport and recreation organizations. The funding will be used to help these non-profits recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and meet the needs of their communities.

To coincide with the launch of Discover Brantford’s beautiful new website, the Tourism division is also pleased to share the creation of a Public Art StoryMap. Using ArcGIS Technology, the Tourism division created an interactive map that highlights all seventeen pieces in the City of Brantford’s Public Art Collection.
