After a two year hiatus, the Brantford Sports Council Awards and Recognition Program will be held in 2022 to recognize all those that contribute to youth sport in the community.
Nominations will be open from December 5, 2021 up to February 20, 2022 to recognize the outstanding achievements of local athletes, coaches, volunteers, teams, officials and sponsors who are actively involved in and support youth sports in the community.
Nominations will be accepted for the following awards:
- The Phyllis Gretzky Memorial Award - Female Youth Leadership
- The Frank Bricker Memorial Award - Male Youth Leadership
- The Jimmy Wilkes Memorial Award - Team of the Year
- The John Macklin Memorial Award - Coach of the Year
- The Adrian Scherders Memorial Award - Sportsmanship and Dedication
- The George Churchill Memorial Award - Sports Volunteer of the Year
- The George Jones Memorial Award - Lifetime Sports Volunteerism
- The Jack Calbeck Memorial Award - Lifetime Sports Sponsorship
- The Dave Levac Award - The Award of Excellence for Sports Officiating
Award criteria and nomination forms are available through the Brantford Sports Council website.
The awards program will be held at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts on Saturday March 12, 2022 and will kick off the 2nd annual Celebration of Youth Sports Week that will run to Saturday March 19, 2022. It will include a variety of virtual and live performances in a matinee venue to host all youth sport groups and community partners throughout the day.
Additionally, Rick Mannen and his Committee will be selecting and announcing the Frank Tomlin Memorial Award for Sportsperson of the Year.
Sport is the catalyst that brings a community together and is a key element in the social fabric of our community.
