Family biking on trails in Brantford

Celebrate Tourism Week from May 29 to June 4, 2022 with our self-guided itinerary that includes shopping, food and drink, museums, public art and more (plus, enjoy some exclusive Tourism Week discounts along the way!).

Tourism Week Self-Guided Itinerary
  • Morning
    • Start your day by exploring Brantford’s trails. Head to Heron Head Bikes to rent a Reid Classic 7 speed or vintage Daisy tandem bike or bring your own bike for a tune up.
    • Stop into Serenity Country Candles for a serene shopping experience or explore Your Home, Your Story, in the heart of one of Brantford’s historic neighborhoods. Spoil yourself or someone special by picking up a unique gift at one of Brantford’s many local shops. Oakhill Marketplace, Brantford Finders Keepers and Wylde Rose Handmade Soaps all feature local artist and artisan products from home décor to bath and body products.
    • For lunch, visit Fume RestoBar, nestled in the Holmedale neighbourhood. The atmosphere is relaxing and family-friendly and their house made tzatziki is a must-try.
    • After lunch, visit The Olive Oil Company to choose from over 70 varieties including extra virgin, infused and agrumato olive oils, in addition to infused dark and white balsamic vinegars. Pick up some handcrafted Belgian chocolates nearby at Le Chocolat du Savoie.
  • Afternoon
    • In the afternoon, stop by one of Brantford’s local breweries. Bell City Brewing Co. has a rustic tap room, relaxing patio and a long list of refreshing brews on tap. In the Cordage Heritage District, you'll find Mash Paddle Brewing Co. Sample their four flagship beers or one of their seasonal brews in the tap room or on the outdoor patio. While you're there, pop by Bathtub Bakery to browse their bakery-inspired bath, body and fragrance products that look good enough to eat. If spirits are your preference, head to Manns Distillery and enjoy samples of their botanical-infused spirits with the assistance of their knowledgeable mixologists.
    • If craft beer and spirits aren't your thing, purchase a Brant Museums Passport for $5 which includes one-time access to ten participating museums and galleries in Brantford, the County of Brant and Six Nations of the Grand River.
    • Be sure to visit the Tourism Information desk inside the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre where the friendly staff can assist with providing local area information, brochures, maps and local event updates. Tour the Brantford and Area Sports Hall of Recognition, a 3,000 square foot space which proudly recognizes our hometown heroes. Outside the main entrance, take a photo with “The Great One”, a 12-foot bronze-cast sculpture of Wayne Gretzky hoisting the Stanley Cup over his head in victory.
  • Evening
    • Brantford boasts unique local eateries for dinner including Mercasa Little Italy Eatery, offering delicious Italian and Portuguese style options with a bright and modern dining area or Sociable Kitchen & Tavern featuring a rustic interior, craft food, and an extensive craft beer menu.
    • Leave room for dessert at Brantford’s unique frozen treat destinations. OMG Ice Cream serves ice cream, sundaes and so much more with a slogan of “taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary”. Dairy Delite is a 50’s style ice cream shop and landmark serving up ice cream treats for over 60 years in Brantford.
    • Make it an overnight adventure at one of seven Brantford hotels and receive up to 20% of your eligible 2022 Ontario accommodation expenses with Ontario’s Staycation Tax Credit.
