Brantford, a city steeped in rich sports heritage, is excited to commemorate a monumental milestone – the 25th Anniversary of its distinction as the Tournament Capital of Ontario. Organized by the Brantford Sports Council, this momentous occasion is poised to take place on the radiant grounds of the Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course. Members of the public are welcome to attend, so please save the date: August 25, 2023, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.

The fun-filled family event features live music, mascots, face painting, community displays, golf skill challenges, prizes and FUN sports activities planned throughout the day for all ages. Don’t miss the Guinness World Record holder, stilt walker Doug Hunt and grab a bite with either the FREE pizza or hot dogs provided. Many local athlete ambassadors will be in attendance and ready to take photos and hand out autographs. This is an event young sports fans do not want to miss!

The roots of this milestone achievement delve deep into Brantford's identity as a community that reverberates with the pulse of athleticism. In the heart of this city thrives an intricate web of sporting infrastructure – from arenas to Olympic-sized pools, sports fields to gymnasiums – meticulously nurtured to facilitate the pursuit of excellence. Brantford's strategic location, further positions it as a pivotal hub accessible to sport enthusiasts across Ontario and northeastern U.S. states.

From its inception, Brantford has fostered an enduring bond with sports, nurturing a legacy that has bred some of the country's most illustrious athletes. Notably, it holds the distinction of being the birthplace of hockey icon Wayne Gretzky, a symbol of excellence in Canadian sports.  This year's commemoration is a testament to Brantford's commitment to promoting sports and recreation, reflected in its successful hosting of over 100 events annually, many of which are significant national or international events and tourism drivers.

Help us celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Brantford’s designation as the Tournament Capital of Ontario on August 25, 2023, at the Walter Gretzky Municipal Golf Course, as Brantford comes together to revel in the legacy of a quarter-century of excellence. A day of nostalgia, and shared pride awaits, as we celebrate Brantford's journey from a city of dreams to the Tournament Capital of Ontario.
