The City of Brantford Economic Development and Tourism Department is pleased to announce the launch of the digital release of the 2020 Discover Brantford Visitor Guide – Plan now. Explore later.
The 32-page e-brochure highlights key attractions and experiences throughout the City, as well as celebrated icons and landmarks. The annual guide features beautiful images, captured by local photographers, of more than 50 local attractions promoting cultural draws in the area, places to dine and shop, outdoor adventures, accommodations, and much more.
Hikers and cyclists alike will enjoy a four-page feature that includes information detailing Brantford’s 70km of natural trails, beautiful parks, trail access points, and the Brantford Rotary Bike Park. Many of Brantford’s trails run adjacent to the Grand River – a designated heritage river – and provide a stunning backdrop for your walk or bike ride.
We have chosen to omit events from the Visitor Guide in response to the majority of festivals being cancelled throughout the 2020 summer. We are hopeful that our City’s highly-attended fall events, such as Brantford International Jazz Festival, Brantwood Farms Fall Festival, and Culture Days, to name a few, will be offered in some capacity, and we can update our digital guide as new information becomes available to the public.
“The bright, colourful pages reflect Tourism Brantford’s recent rebranding strategy in 2019 and are symbolic of the vibrant offerings available in our community,” said Kara Davey, Arts & Culture Development Officer for the City of Brantford. “The primary focus of the 2020 Discover Brantford digital guide is to create local awareness, which we hope will encourage Brantford residents to safely explore their own backyards.”
The delivery of the new digital version of the Discover Brantford Visitor Guide is also in line with the Economic Development & Tourism Department’s #BrantfordTogether campaign, which focuses on supporting local businesses, highlighting the businesses that continue to pivot and adapt to changing social distancing measures, and encouraging Brantford residents to shop local within their own community as reopening of the local economy continues.
In addition to the guide, the Economic Development and Tourism Department is also proud to release their new #BrantfordTogether video in support of local businesses. The video has an optimistic and hopeful tone, featuring many recognizable landmarks and local businesses in the City of Brantford. It also reinforces safety and physical distancing guidelines to be consistent with both municipal and provincial messaging. The launch of the video comes at an opportune time with so many local businesses reopening on Friday, June 12, 2020 as part of Stage 2 of the Province’s Strategic Framework. The video will be rolled out on social media on Friday, June 12, 2020. We invite you to have a look at the video on the City of Brantford’s YouTube Channel. Both the video and the visitor guide celebrate the cautious reopening of these businesses and encourages the community’s support.
“The tourism industry was hit first, will be hit the hardest, and will be the last to recover from the COVID-19 global pandemic. Now, more than ever, it is important to support our local tourism businesses,” adds Sara Munroe, Manager of Tourism, Culture & Sport for the City of Brantford. “Shop local, eat local, explore local is our mantra. The new Discover Brantford visitor guide will be mobile-friendly, so we hope it gives our residents a list of new ideas of places to check out while they are on-the-go.”
The 2020 Discover Brantford Visitor Guide e-brochure is now available online.
