Fall Tours at Mohawk Chapel

Email icon Back to Search
Blog_MohawkChapelFallEvents

Her Majesty’s Royal Chapel of the Mohawks is beautiful to see year-round, but during the fall, the autumn foliage decorates the grounds and creates a picture perfect scene. Mohawk Chapel was the first Protestant church in Upper Canada and is now the oldest surviving church in Ontario. This historic landmark offers year-round tours and hosts a number of private and public events each year. This fall and winter, Mohawk Chapel has lined up some exciting tours, including their 235th anniversary celebration.

Historical Graveyard Tours

Celebrate Culture Days at Her Majesty’s Royal Chapel of the Mohawks! Culture Days is a month-long celebration this year, with live and virtual events happening all over Canada. As part of Culture Days, the Historical Graveyard Tours will celebrate the lives of select members of Mohawk Chapel's 200-year-old graveyard. When walking through the grounds you will notice many headstones and monuments, a record of cultural and social history. Mohawk Chapel is also the final resting place of Captain Joseph Brant and his son, John Brant. This tour provides historical facts and highlights individuals’ significant achievements and milestones. The guide will also explain the inspiration and meaning of many gravestone designs and symbols. This is a socially distanced event and masks must be worn inside throughout the duration of the indoor portion.
