A Guide to Spending Family Day in Brantford

Family Day is a day to celebrate the people closest to us and to spend quality time together. In Brantford, there are plenty of activities you can enjoy over the Family Day weekend. Here’s a guide to help you make the most of the long weekend. 

Outdoor Adventure

For those who love the great outdoors, Brantford has plenty of options to choose from. You can go for a hike on the nearby trails, or take a stroll around the City’s many parks.

Harmony Square

Another great option is taking your loved ones ice skating at Harmony Square, which will be offering free events that day:

• 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. – Ice skating at Harmony Square
• 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Family Disney trivia at Hudson Public. Registration is required by calling Hudson Public at 519-304-4561.
• 6:00 p.m. – Free hot chocolate sponsored by Tim Hortons while quantities last
• 6:00 p.m. – The BarryO Kidshow featuring a blend of ventriloquism and magic followed by a local educator reading the classic Dr. Seuss story, The Lorax.
• 7:30 p.m. – Special fireworks display followed by a D.J. dance party until 8:00 p.m.

Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre 

• Free public swim and skate will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. sponsored by CUPE 181. The indoor track will be also open 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Bell Homestead National Historic Site

• Bring your family for a pre-booked, guided tour of Alexander Graham Bell’s home and Canada’s first telephone office for the special admission price of $1.00 per person. Children six and under are free. Book your tour between 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. by calling 519-756-6220 or by emailing bellhomestead@brantford.ca. Tours are not available from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Family Day.
