Film cameras on set

The City of Brantford Economic Development and Tourism Department is pleased to welcome back the cast and crew from Mayor of Kingstown to film an episode for the Paramount Plus show’s first season. The production will be filming exterior scenes on Clarence St. from Chatham St. to Elgin St.; Grey St. from Charlotte St. to Park Ave; and Bruce St. west of Murray St. Several picture vehicles will be driving north and south along Clarence St. and Grey St. During the road closure on Clarence St., the production will drive a picture car north on Clarence St. and simulate a collision at the corner of Clarence St. and Grey St.

Throughout the pandemic, commercial film and television production, including all supporting activities such as hair, makeup and wardrobe, is allowed if productions meet the restrictions outlined in the “Film and Television Industry Health and Safety during COVID-19” document issued by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. Further details about permitted Media Industries activities are available on the Province of Ontario website. The production will also comply with all health and safety protocols as directed by the Province of Ontario detailed in S63 of O. Reg. 82/20, the City of Brantford and the Brant County Health Unit.

The film crew will be on site from July 5 to 7, 2021 to prepare the site, film and wrap-up. Filming notices will be distributed to affected residents and businesses in the vicinity.  The production will also take out local newspaper and radio announcement ads to share anticipated impacts with the community.

  • Full Street and Sidewalk Closure: Williams St. between Waterloo St. and Church St., from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on July 6.
  • City Streets and Sidewalk Occupancy: Williams St. from Waterloo St. to Church St.; Waterloo St. (south side) from William St. to Albion St.; and Albion St. (west side) from Waterloo St. to Church St. from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. from July 5 to 7.

Clarence St. will be closed at Grey St. for 1-3 blocks in each direction from 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and motorists are advised to follow posted detour signs. Advanced detour notification signs will be posted along Clarence St. Paid Duty Officers will be present at all closures to ensure public safety.

About the Production

Mayor of Kingstown is an upcoming drama series about the McLusky family who serve as power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. The series tackles themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality.
