Film cameras on set

The City of Brantford Economic Development and Tourism Department is pleased to welcome back the cast and crew of Murdoch Mysteries. They will be filming exterior scenes in daylight at the Steve Brown Sports Complex at 20 Edge St, Brantford.

The film crew will be on site Friday, September 2 as well as Monday, September 5 to Thursday, September 8.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Road Closure: Gilkison St. from Edge St. to Mt Pleasant St. from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm daily on September 6 and 7.
  • Lane Occupancy: Edge St. (south side only east of Delamere St.; north and south sides west of Delamere St.) from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm daily on September 6 to 7.
  • Sports Facility Use: The track and field enclosure at the Steve Brown Sports Complex will be used on Friday, September 2 as well as Monday, September 5 to Thursday, September 8.
  • After Hours Activity: Production trucks will be arriving at the Steve Brown Sports Complex parking lot in the late evening of September 3 into the early morning of September 3. Crew will be arriving on location between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on September 6 and 7. No filming activities are planned before 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

About the Production

Set in Toronto at the turn of the 20th century, the series explores the intriguing world of William Murdoch, a methodical detective who pioneers innovative forensic techniques like blood testing and 'finger marking' to solve some of the city's most horrific murders.

Film and COVID-19

Throughout the pandemic, commercial film and television production, including all supporting activities such as hair, makeup and wardrobe, is allowed if productions meet the restrictions outlined in the “Film and Television Industry Health and Safety during COVID-19 document issued by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development. Further details about permitted Media Industries activities are available on the Province of Ontario website. The production will also comply with all health and safety protocols as directed by the Province of Ontario detailed in S63 of O. Reg. 82/20, the City of Brantford and the Brant County Health Unit.
