The Grand River Champion of Champions Powwow will look a little different this year. Although the annual gathering at Chiefswood Park has been cancelled, the event is moving online and will be showcased virtually on Saturday, July 25.
Since 1980, the Six Nations of the Grand River has invited dancers to compete in a variety of categories including Women’s Traditional, Men’s Grass, Women’s Jingle, Men’s Fancy Feather, and Women’s Fancy Shawl.
This year, contestants are invited to submit digital entries through the Powwow’s Facebook page during the competition. Hashtags must also be included with submissions.

Although the community may not be able to meet in person this year, it is nice to know that we can still gather online to celebrate the talents of Indigenous communities from across North America. To learn more, visit them on Facebook or grpowwow.ca.
