While the summer heat is still strong, August always gets me thinking about fall and the cooler, cozier days to come. Dreams of warm mugs of tea, blankets and evenings by a fire fill my head. I also start to wonder what I’m going to do with my time when it's too cold to go outside.
Brantford local, Deanna Albon, answered this question in 2010 when she picked up a crochet hook and immediately developed a passion for it. After five years of learning, she started to develop her own patterns for amigurumi – a Japanese art form of crocheting small, stuffed animals and figures. Another two years and her creative patterns were so lucrative that she was able to retire from her job as a personal support worker to crochet full time!
On her easy to navigate website, you can browse all of her patterns as well as hand-painted safety eyes, crochet hook sets and more. Reasonably priced, her patterns are sent right to your email inbox. She has designs for a wide selection of animals, holiday themed characters and objects, princesses, super heroes and emojis. Her website also hosts a blog where she’s posted some helpful tips.
Find Deanna’s patterns on any of her online shops: Etsy, Ravelry or her Hey Can You Crochet Me A... website.
