Local Favourite Brantford Trails

Two people walk on an asphalt trail surrounded by trees.

You’ve likely heard that Brantford is the “Hub of Ontario Trails.” Our beautiful city is well-known for its over 70km of nature trails, with many winding along the majestic Grand River.  70km is... a lot of walking, so if you don’t have the time, or the tires, to venture through our whole system, here are some of Tourism Brantford’s top trail recommendations using the AllTrails GPS app.

Gordon Glaves - Grand River Loop

This nearly 16km loop follows along the Grand River - a Canadian Heritage River. The loop is a combination of paved and gravel surfaces, and brings you through some of Brantford’s most beautiful landscape. Take a break and walk up the hill to check out Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant and view their award winning, landscaped gardens. Stroll through the Holmedale neighbourhood to plan future visits to two local spas and therapy centres, Grand Wellness Centre and Nu-U Float. Stay in the neighborhood to grab a meal to go from Fume RestoBar, or keep walking to our historic downtown, full of many food and drink options.

Hardy Road from Oakhill Cemetery

This 7.4km one-way trail (or 15km if you double back) is a local favourite. Remember to tie your camera along and plan your trip to be on this trail during the sunrise or sunset. We love the view on the pedestrian bridge that brings you over the Grand River. During the daylight in the spring, summer and fall, you’ll see many paddlers and tubers enjoying the river amenities. Make sure to stop to enjoy the grounds of the Brantford Golf & Country Club, touted by many locals as the “best view in Brantford.”

TH&B Rail Trail

This 45.5 km trail is named after the former Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo rail line. The trail runs all the way from Brantford to Port Dover and can be as short or as long as travelers desire. We like keeping it local by completing the 14.8km trail that runs through Brantford, and then linking to the LE&N Rail Trail to make your way back and treat yourself to take-out from at Goo’s Take-Out and Catering, Bistro Greeko Italiano or Big Box Pizza.
