If you’re looking for that perfect family-owned, casual fine dining restaurant for your next date night, you have to try Speekezzies Café and Wine Bar (415 Fairview Drive, Brantford).
Speekezzie’s is one of Brantford’s very first “casual fine dining” restaurants. Owner and chef Anthony Alfano has developed a menu with only the freshest ingredients, ranging from gourmet thin crust pizzas baked fresh in their wood-burning oven, to fresh pasta, to meat and fish plates – there’s something for everyone!
Start your meal off with a delicious appetizer or salad – perhaps the grilled sweet corn polenta cakes with garden fresh vegetable compote, warm goat cheese, and roasted red pepper puree. Their made to order entrees range from seafood spaghettini with jumbo scallops, shrimp, mussels, fresh fish and clams in a Roma tomato, olive oil and white wine sauce; wood oven pizza with Kalamata olives, pesto, fresh Roma tomatoes, charred red onions, grilled eggplant and feta cheese; or bacon wrapped beef tenderloin with a demi-reduction, mashed potatoes, and seasonal vegetables. They also feature nightly specials! Complement your meal with a selection from their extensive wine list, featuring several vintage and imported wines.
The restaurant is also a great setting for business or private functions, and they’ve hosted everything from wedding receptions to baby showers to important business meetings. They will work with you to plan a personalized menu for your meal at the restaurant, or for home catering.
Speekezzies is open for dinner on Mondays through Thursdays from 5-9pm and on Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm to close. Families and parties are welcome; reservations are appreciated, but not required.
