The Brantford Sports Council is thrilled to be hosting FOCUS 2024 Conference, a premier event for community sports enthusiasts, on Friday, August 23, and Saturday, August 24, 2024. One of the highlights of the conference is the opportunity to hear from Allison Forsyth, a two-time Olympian and a leading advocate for Safe Sport. Allison is passionate about creating safe and inclusive sports environments. "I am thrilled to be bringing the critical conversation of providing safe and inclusive sport experiences to the FOCUS 2024 Conference and AGM," she says.
Kevin Arnsdorf, Chair of the Community Sport Council of Ontario (CSCO), is equally enthusiastic about the event. He emphasizes the importance of grassroots sports and the role they play in fostering community spirit. "CSCO has selected the City of Brantford & the Brantford Sports Council as hosts of the 2024 Community Sport Conference and AGM as a result of its enthusiasm, commitment, and desire to support grassroots sport in Ontario," Kevin explains. He looks forward to engaging with attendees and discussing sustainable development strategies for the future of community sports.
Another distinguished speaker at the conference is Garrett Riley, a Canadian Para-Olympian who hails from Brantford. Garrett is passionate about ensuring that sports are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. "Community sports are the heartbeat of our towns and cities; they bring us together," he says. "I’m looking forward to discussing how together, we can ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the benefits of sports."
