Get ready for one of the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts' biggest seasons yet in celebration of 100 years of theatre. This beautiful theatre seats 1,125 and they show professional entertainment and local performing arts shows, community and show events, dance competitions and recitals.
The goal of this season is to entertain audiences with selections in keeping with the three era’s of the theatre: Vaudeville, Film, and Performance. The Sanderson Centre was known as the Temple Theatre in 1999—it was Brantford’s Supreme Playhouse for vaudeville and sient movies. Then there's the Film Era where the Centre was named the Capitol and was Brantford’s premiere movie palace for nearly sixty years. Lastly, the Performance era which carries us to present day. The Sanderson Centre has been bringing the performing arts to our community for a century now. The City purchased The Sanderson Centre in 1986 in an effort to preseve Brantford’s heritage and create a cultural centre for the community.
In honor of this Centennial Season, the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts has released some new merchandise! the Sanderson Centre is pleased to announce the arrival of their first book—a beautiful hardcover coffee table book (retailing for $50) commemorating 100 years of history and culture. In addition, you will also be able to purchase hats, umbrellas, sweatshirts, shirts, bags, and more as souvenirs throughout the season.
Celebrating the Sandersons Centennial Season the 2019-2020 film series consists of 6 films that have been with the Sanderson Centre for years. Relive these unforgettable movies on Sundays at 3:00 for only $9.00. The films are Casablanca, Jaws, The Wizard of Oz, The Sound of Music, Grease and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
Enjoy a good laugh with Colin Mochrie and Asad Mecci on January 29, 2020 for a hilarious evening of hypnosis. One of the funniest comedians, Brent Butt will be at the Sanderson Centre on April 1, 2020, and don’t miss Circa’s presentation of ‘Humans’ on January 14, 2020.
