The Brantford Rotary Bike Park will be opening for its second season in the coming weeks. The Brant Cycling Club, a volunteer based organization focused on enhancing the cycling culture in Brantford and the County of Brant, is busy preparing the Bike Park for opening. This past long weekend, members of the Brant Cycling Club held "work parties" at the Bike Park. These work parties were scheduled Facebook events that called for volunteers to help pull weeds, rake, shovel and move dirt.
The Brantford Rotary Bike Park is located at 400 Grand River Ave. in Brantford. The park received a $160,000 grant in 2016 to develop the park, and it opened in 2018 having a very successful first season. Impressively, the Bike Park is referred to as "one of the best outdoor bike parks in Ontario" in the new 2019 Cycling in Ontario Guide. The guide states, "The Brantford Rotary Bike Park has been built with expertise, craftsmanship and attention to detail. A full day of fun for riders of all abilities with beginner, intermediate and advanced jumps, trails, pump tracks and a skills area."
The Bike Park is a safe space for novices and professionals to practice their skills. It includes a series of jumps and ramps that allow for safe skill progression. With beginner, intermediate and expert lines, cyclists are able to build on their abilities while getting more air on the bike to do tricks. The pump track allows for a full body workout that also improves rider efficiency.
