Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity beloved by millions worldwide. Essentially, geocaching is a high-tech scavenger hunt where participants use their GPS to find ‘caches’ that are hidden in unexpected places. Caches are usually small plastic containers with a log book inside where successful searchers can sign their name - some even hold small prizes! This is a great outdoor activity for people of all ages, as it reveals secrets hidden in the places you know well, and invites you to discover what lies off the beaten path.
Geocaching.com lists over 100 caches in Brantford. Each contains the GPS coordinates and some cryptic clues and hints to lead you to the cache. Although be warned, once in the right area, it often takes some searching to actually find the cache. Remember to re-hide any caches you find in the same spot you found them in for the next geocachers to find!
