Join some of Canada’s biggest and best authors for intimate online conversations with Brantford Public Library’s Thursday Night Author Talks series. The Author Talks are free and those interested can now register through the Library’s website.

Thursday, October 15, 2020 - Helen Humphreys, author of Rabbit Foot Bill

The series will kick off Thursday, October 15 with an event featuring a discussion with bestselling author Helen Humphreys. Humphreys is one of the most-popular literary authors in Canada. In the last two years, Humphreys has published the bestselling books Rabbit Foot Bill (2020) and Machine Without Horses (2018). Her 1998 book Leaving Earth was a New York Times Notable Book and winner of the City of Toronto Book Award.

Thursday, November 5, 2020 - Karma Brown, author of A Recipe for a Perfect Wife

The second event on Thursday, November 5 features author Karma Brown. Brown’s 2019 bestselling book A Recipe for a Perfect Wife was recently reviewed in the New York Times. Her 2015 book Come Away With Me earned a spot on the Globe and Mail’s list of the Top 100 Books of 2015.

Thursday, December 3, 2020 - Farzana Doctor, author of Seven

Author Farzana Doctor wraps the series up with an event on Thursday, December 3. Doctor, who was named by CBC as an author “you need to know”, is also a psychotherapist and activist. Her most-recent book Seven was published in 2020 and her 2018 book Six Metres of Pavement was the 2018 winner of the One Book, One Brampton competition.

These author events are similar to the Library’s Bell City Author Series, which brought authors like Emma Donoghue and Joy Fielding to Brantford for wine and cheese author talks. Visit www.brantfordlibrary.ca to learn more.
