Brantford, The Tournament Capital of Ontario, has a long tradition of sporting excellence – a title earned by successfully hosting many local, regional, and provincial events annually. The Sport Event Excellence award recognizes a sporting event, tournament, competition, or training camp that has exemplified exceptional dedication to enhancing its event and fostering growth. The recipient of this award will receive a $250 honorarium/cash prize.
The recipient will have enhanced their current event or introduced a new and innovative one, demonstrating a strong dedication to creating an engaging and impactful experience for all participants and spectators. By actively encouraging attendees to explore and spend time in Brantford beyond the sporting event experience, this organization has demonstrated a profound impact on participants and the local community, stimulating local businesses and enhancing tourism and economic growth in Brantford.
The award acknowledges the dedication of event organizers, sponsors, and volunteers who contributed to a successful event that inspires athletes and spectators, enriches the sporting culture in Brantford, and leaves a lasting positive legacy.
The submission deadline is Sunday, February 16, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
Award Criteria
To be eligible for the Sport Event Excellence Award, the event must have been hosted within the City of Brantford and must have occurred within the past calendar year. The event must have exhibited strong local community partnerships, and demonstrated strong event structure, execution, or experience that enhanced the overall event quality and engagement. The event must have demonstrated an impact on local businesses and enhancing tourism in Brantford, as a result of encouraging attendees to discover Brantford beyond the sporting event experience.
