Bell Homestead National Historic Site
94 Tutela Heights Rd., Brantford
From 1870 to 1881, this was the Bell family’s first Canadian residence and the place where Alexander Graham Bell discovered the fundamental concept of the telephone in 1874. Take a guided tour of the Bell family home and see Life on the Line: The Evolution of the Bell Telephone, their brand new exhibit.
Brant Historical Society
Established in 1908, the Brant Historical Society is an independent registered charity operating two museums, Brant Museum & Archives (57 Charlotte St.) and Myrtleville House Museum (34 Myrtleville Dr.). Their purpose is to collect, preserve and share the history and heritage of Brantford, County of Brant, Six Nations of the Grand River, and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
Canadian Military Heritage Museum
347 Greenwich St., Brantford
This 13,000 square foot museum preserves and displays artefacts about Canada and Brantford’s military history. It honours and remembers all veterans and military service personnel who have served and are currently serving. Free admission, donations gratefully accepted.
His Majesty's Royal Chapel of the Mohawks
301 Mohawk St, Brantford
Mohawk Chapel was built in 1784 and is the last surviving building of the Mohawk Village. Gain insight into the history of Six Nations by touring the Chapel and learning about the narratives depicted in the eight stained glass windows.
Woodland Cultural Centre
184 Mohawk St., Brantford
Since 1972, Woodland Cultural Centre has been a leader of Indigenous arts, culture, and education. Explore their permanent collection, which showcases thousands of years of Indigenous history, from prehistoric to contemporary times. As of September 2025, self-guided tours of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School are now available. Please note that the former residential school, which is now a Historic Interpretive Site and Educational Resource, addresses difficult subject matter. Some panels and audio guides include explicit information about physical and sexual abuse. Content warnings are posted throughout, and a reflection room with support resources is available.
